The Jean-Michel Pilc Trio brings together three of the most remarkable and inspired musicians on the Montreal scene: internationally renowned pianist Jean-Michel Pilc, bassist Morgan Moore, and drummer Samuel Joly. Bound by a rare musical chemistry, they share a taste for risk and a creative freedom that elevate each performance to new heights of improvisation.
Their music, deeply rooted in the great jazz tradition yet boldly forward-looking, offers a rich and ever-evolving soundscape where standards are transformed and the present moment becomes a playground. Together, the three artists weave an inventive and wholly original form of jazz, powered by Pilc’s virtuosity, Moore’s expressive phrasing, and Joly’s rhythmic force.
Every performance is a unique event—unpredictable, intense, at times volcanic, at times lyrical, but always breathtaking. This trio doesn’t simply play music; they reinvent it in real time, delivering a deeply emotional and sensory experience that lingers long after the final note.
