Under the direction and arrangements of Jean-Nicolas Trottier, the Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal pays tribute to the legendary quintet of Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams, and to the sublime moments these virtuosos created between 1965 and 1968, particularly recorded on the legendary albums ESP, Miles Smiles and Nefertiti. At the head of this quintet, invigorated by the drums of the very young Williams, Davis and his collaborators gradually broke away from established formats to shape a new music, as exciting for its coherence as for its freedom.
